For the Millionth Time...!!

3 Feb 2009

My child is finally asleep. After much wriggling and wiggling and tossing ("I am trying to get comfortable, mama!") she finally fell asleep while listening to me read like every other night the Al Fatihah, 3 Quls and Khalimah Shahadah and doa. She is not well today. Coughing and sniffling and throwing up twice. No fever. Went to the pediatrician and he thinks she caught some virus and is in the early stages of it. Headed home with the little one whining and wanting to have dinner picnic style (again) in front of the television.

Blow your nose please.

Please go get the kleenex and blow your nose.

I dont think you blew your nose because you are still sniffling. Please blow your nose.

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO REPEAT MYSELF????

Have you heard yourself say these too?

How about this:

Can you please sit on the potty and brush your teeth so we can get our day going?

Have you gone to the potty and brushed your teeth yet?

We need to go to school so please use the potty and brush your teeth.

If you do not use the potty and brush your teeth, then we cannot proceed to our next adventure.

PLEASE SIT ON THE POTTY NOW! PLEASE BRUSH YOUR TEETH!

Please put on your shoes now.

Please put your jacket on.

No, it is winter. You need a jacket.

What do you mean you dont want to wear your winter boots? It's winter!

Please put your pajamas on.

Did you clean your room yet> i told you three times already.

Did you hear me calling you just now?

How many times do I have to repeat myself??

I love my daughter. She is at the age where " I see nothing, I hear nothing and I do nothing if it is from my mama". If it does not benefit her ( dvd time, picnic, playtime) then she sticks to her mantra. When negotiations fall through, then she is all cooperative. Interesting isnt it?

I guess we all went through it.

If I keep on sniffling, maybe it will go away.

If I pretend to not hear her, maybe she will forget about it.

If I pick a few things up, that's good enough, right?

Mama, sorry for all those times that I never "heard" you, never "did" as I was told, never "saw" what you wanted me to see.

Trying moments. Patience. Love. Above all, love.

Thank you for all that.

Now I guess it's my turn.
