Balance

12 Feb 2010

I miss my daily planner. I had always looked forward to whipping out my fountain pen and going through the planner and jotting down whatever activities we had to do. One more item that tended to accumulate post its, loose papers and extra school calenders and cards and ultimately increasing its bulkiness. Still I cherished the activity everday and looked forward to the yearly trip to target to get a new daily planner and saying adios to the old one. My planner would be a rainbow of colors since I would have inked various pens with various colors.

My husband decided to give me an itouch for the new year. Amidst being excited to now owning a new tech toy, I was also very sad. Instantly realizing that having everything in one little gadget will make my bag lighter, less trees being cut down, less gas and driving to make the yearly trips to target, no browsing down the aisle to find the best buy and choose the color or design of the planner and instant input and no flipping pages with the fountain pen ready in my hand.

Yes that is sadly the new balance I have had to learn to acquire this year. Who knows, it could be a different story next year.
