You know those two baskets of laundry that need to be sorted and folded and ironed?
You know the dirty dishes that are just piled high since breakfast and lunch and tea?
You know the stuff toys that are all in a heap in the living room because they had tea with their little mistress?
You know the clothes from last night and this morning that were just left on the floor or the rocking chair?
You know the food bits that are under the dining table?
You know the beddings that are in the dryer which need to be taken out in 45 minutes?
All these chores can wait.
What cannot wait is time to play with my child in the playground.
What cannot wait is to see the smile and the sparkle in her eyes when she asks to play hide and seek.
What cannot wait is to see how eager she is to go on the monkey bars after a hiatus from winter.
What cannot wait is the chatter, the giggles and the conversations we have while she is twirling on the tire swing.
What cannot wait is seeing my five year old be a five year old and try to imprint that picture into my very old and webbed memory bank.
This is what you call "moments in time". I never understood the true meaning of it till today.
Everything else can wait but not these Moments. She is five only once and I am going to make sure that she nor I ever wait to have these moments together.
